Centennial Fundraising Drive

2008 marks Esphyr Slobodkina’s centennial. As part of a year-long celebration for this pioneering abstract artist and author of the children’s classic Caps for Sale,  the Slobodkina Foundation is organizing the first national exhibition of Esphyr Slobodkina’s work. Esphyr Slobodkina: Rediscovering a Pioneer of American Abstraction will be the largest and most comprehensive retrospective to date and a most fitting tribute to this distinguished artist and beloved children’s book author.

Please help make this landmark retrospective possible by participating in this one-time fundraising event. The Slobodkina Foundation must raise $150,000 by December 2008.

Your contribution is tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law and will help to:

• present the most comprehensive exhibition on Esphyr Slobodkina

• augment understanding of American art history and the development of American abstraction by re-examining the contributions of Esphyr Slobodkina

• publish the largest and most detailed book on Esphyr Slobodkina’s life and art to date

• celebrate the inspiring accomplishments of an important female artist who has touched the lives of millions through both her art and children’s books

• ensure Esphyr Slobodkina’s place in American cultural history

• underwrite packing, shipping, transportation,  and other exhibition costs
