Kraushaar Galleries Presents First Catalogue of Works on Paper  

New York, NY - April 18, 2007

Kraushaar Galleries presents Black + White: A Selection of 20th Century Drawings and Prints, a 15-page catalogue of works on paper, that includes Esphyr Slobodkina's Inner Works (collage, c.1960, 5 3/4 x 4 ˝"). The publication begins with a rare Sloan drawing for The Masses, continues the modernism of Hartley and Kuniyoshi, the developments in American abstraction of Dehner and Slobodkina and concludes with a quiet Heliker wash drawing from the 1960s.

Two University of Hartford Events to Feature Caps for Sale

Hartford, CT - April 18, 2007

The University of Hartford in Connecticut will be hosting a pen pal get together on May 1-6, 2007 where students will read the Big Book version of Caps for Sale to celebrate writing together. In addition, Educational Main Street (EMS) will be hosting Read Alouds. Students from six partner schools will be bused to the Esphyr Slobodkina Urquhart Children’s Reading Room where President Harrison and others will read from Caps for Sale, other Slobodkina literature, and selected children's literature of their choice.

Centennial Retrospective Announced for 2008

On the occasion of Esphyr Slobodkina’s 100th birthday, the Slobodkina Foundation will be launching “Esphyr Slobodkina: The Centennial Retrospective,” a traveling exhibition that will commemorate the life and work of this prolific artist. Read more.

 

2007 Family Day Schedule Released

Family Day is a two hour story-time and cultural event that gives children an opportunity to interact with musical performances and to participate in a question and answer tour of the Slobodkina House Museum. Caps for Sale CD Now Available

Glen Cove, NY - April 18, 2007

The Caps for Sale musical audio-book was released on CD through Harper Collins Publishers in early 2007. Great for card rides, nap time, bed times or anytime, the musical narrative of Caps For Sale will have children listening, reading and singing along again and again. The story is filled with wonderful background sounds, mischievous monkey music and splendid arrangements. Now On View at the Slobodkina House Museum: "Esphyr Slobodkina, A Retrospective: Art and Arts"

This exhibition offers a chronological look at Esphyr's art on two floors of the Slobodkina House Museum. Beginning with some of Esphyr's early school drawings and advertisement illustrations, the show follows her development and experimentation in a variety of media. The 175 works are hung salon style. The show will run through April 2008.
